Manuel Mercado

I got started working in the field in 1996.  I spent the next 26 years providing counseling then therapy to adolescents and adults with significant histories of trauma primarily in the non-profit sector.  Licensed in 2009 as a Marriage and Family Therapist, I’ve spent the last 6 years really focused on building a practice centered on addressing the needs of adults and couples dealing with relationship challenges and those with histories of complex trauma.  Therapy in my book is a relationship of collaboration between the therapist and client while maintaining the client’s role as expert surrounding the circumstances within their own lives.I graduated from Pitzer College with a BA in Psychology in 1996, a Masters Degree from Pepperdine University in 1999, and a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2004.  I’ve always taken an eclectic or multidisciplinary approach towards treatment with heavy emphasis on providing services to historically marginalized communities.
