Privacy Policies

The law protects the relationship between a client and a therapist. Information cannot be disclosed without written permission. There are, however, three exceptions to this law. The law requires all mental health practitioners to report the following conditions:

  • Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse. The therapist at Emotional Change will report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.

  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, the therapist must notify the police and inform the intended victim.

  • If a client intends to harm self, the therapist will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in insuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, the therapist will take further measures even without their permission, that are provided to them by law in order to ensure their safety.
